Mozart / Fauré / Saint-Saëns

Creative, innovative, passionate: with such qualities, the Kammerorchester Basel has become one of the best of its kind. The ensemble treads in the path of Basel's long music tradition established by the patron Paul Sacher and regularly performs with the cellist Sol Gabetta. Two timeless Mozart works share the bill with a concerto by Saint-Saëns, a "second Mozart" according to his admirers! In any case, it's the condensed version of a classical concerto that will take shape under the virtuoso fingers of this evening's powerful soloist.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
The Marriage of Figaro : Overture
Symphony No. 35 in D major « Haffner »
Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) - Elegy for cello and orchestra op. 24
Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) - Concerto for cello No. 1

The concert, with an intermission of about 20 minutes, ends around 19:45. It is recorded by Espace 2.
